Meng is a new bilingual documentary that follows former Gisborne mayor and current Race Relations Commissioner Meng Foon as he navigates a very public role at a national level after 18 years in local politics.
Fluent in te reo Māori, Meng is often seen as a symbolic bridge between Māori and Chinese (or tauiwi) communities. This documentary charts a year of ups, downs, and personal transformations for Meng.
Meng premieres 8:30 pm, Monday 12 September on Whakaata Māori and will be available online on MĀORI+.
Co-produced and co-directed by Steven Chow & Julie Zhu.
